SBS 9.2 Software Release: Everyday Improvements
Smoother sign-in experience and quality of life improvements make energy and broadband design easier and faster.
SBS version 9.2 is now available for Automated Utility Design (AUD), Automated Broadband Designer (ABD), SDS-Physical for AutoCAD, SDS-Physical for Inventor, and SDS Protection & Control (P&C). This release focuses on making it easier to access your SBS products and refining the tools you already use every day.
A More Seamless Sign-In
All SBS 9.2 products now include the SBS Identity Manager, a lightweight desktop application that streamlines product and portal access. With Identity Manager, users can:
- Sign in once to access all SBS products, and use one login for product and portal access
- Simplify IT administration by standardizing user-based licensing across teams.
Identity Manager uses modern authentication standards such as OAuth and OpenID PKCE to keep sign-in secure and predictable, whether running one SBS product or several. It also helps organizations move to a single, named-user model that is easier to manage across devices and versions.
Everyday Usability and Reliability Improvements
Alongside the new sign-in experience, each product in the SBS suite includes refinements designed to make daily work smoother and more reliable.
Automated Utility Design (AUD), Automated Broadband Designer (ABD), and SDS-Physical for AutoCAD
- Improved handling of parameterized parts and visual fidelity, ensuring consistent results when switching between design views.
- Improved metric configuration for installations outside the U.S. through enhanced profile initialization.
- More predictable material and circuit management, reducing rework and data clean-up.
- Continued compatibility with Autodesk Map 3D 2023–2026 and .NET 8, supporting the latest Autodesk platform releases.
These refinements were guided by feedback from SBS customers who use these products , with a focus on stability, consistency, and setup reliability.
SDS-Physical for Inventor
SDS-Physical for Inventor 9.2 introduces the same SBS Identity Manager integration, bringing a consistent sign-in experience to both AutoCAD and Inventor environments. No additional functional changes are included in this release, ensuring a simple transition to the new authentication framework.
SDS Protection & Control (P&C)
SDS-P&C 9.2 includes the same platform updates along with several workflow enhancements:
- Updated SDS_AUDIT interface with a dockable, tab-based layout for easier issue tracking and sorting, plus the ability to export reports for review outside AutoCAD Electrical.
- Improved design validation tools with new options to identify and correct out-of-sync component TAG attributes.
- Enhanced customization allows users to define which attributes appear in SDS_ROLLOVER and save preferences using SDS_SETTINGS.
- Usability updates across tools such as SDS_SUBPROJ, SDS_TBREV, and SDS_CBLSCHED for better visibility, scaling, and reporting flexibility.
Together, these adjustments make it easier to maintain data accuracy, keep drawings synchronized, and tailor the interface to specific project needs.
Consistent Progress, Shared Foundation
The 9.2 release represents a step forward in aligning all SBS desktop products on a common foundation for authentication, deployment, and future integration. By unifying how users access and manage their SBS tools, the platform is becoming easier to maintain while laying the groundwork for more connected design environments.
SBS remains focused on steady, user-driven improvement, refining performance, simplifying administration, and keeping your design environment current with evolving Autodesk platforms and security standards.
